User Agreement

Last updated: 29 April 2026

This is a plain-language agreement between you ("you", "the user") and the operator of Kronoscript ("we", "the Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and accepted everything below. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

1. Beta software, used at your own risk

Kronoscript is in active beta. That has real consequences:

  • The Service may be unavailable, slow, or broken at any time, with or without warning.
  • Features may be added, changed, or removed without notice. Things you rely on today may behave differently tomorrow.
  • Bugs exist, including bugs that could cause data loss. We make best-effort backups but offer no guarantee.
  • You use the Service "as-is", with no warranties of any kind, express or implied — including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, or non-infringement.

2. Don't share confidential or sensitive information

Kronoscript is a place to write down personal memories. It is not a secure vault, a HIPAA-compliant health platform, a password manager, or a place to share legal/medical/financial information you would not be comfortable losing or having seen by an unintended audience. Specifically:

  • Don't post passwords, API keys, recovery phrases, credit card numbers, social security numbers, government IDs, or anything you'd be unwilling to read on a stolen laptop.
  • Don't post information that could endanger another person if leaked.
  • If you post something embarrassing, harmful, or sensitive about someone else without their consent, the legal responsibility is yours.

Even with our best efforts, no online service is perfectly secure. If a breach happens, we'll notify affected users in a reasonable timeframe — but the safest data is data you didn't put in.

3. Your content is yours

You retain ownership of everything you post: stories, photos, videos, comments. By posting, you grant the Service the technical license needed to store, display, and back up your content for the audiences you choose. We do not claim ownership, we do not sell your content and we do not use it to train AI models. The Service is ad-free, funded by voluntary tips and a planned optional Pro tier; if that model ever changes we'll update this Agreement and let you know before any change takes effect.

You can export your content anytime via "Export My Story" and you can delete it at any time. Deletion is in two stages (archive, then permanent) — once you confirm permanent deletion, it's gone.

4. Acceptable use

By using the Service you agree not to:

  • Use the Service for anything illegal, harassing, hateful, threatening, or sexually exploitative of minors.
  • Post copyrighted material you don't have rights to.
  • Impersonate other people or misrepresent your identity in a way meant to deceive.
  • Attempt to break, abuse, or reverse-engineer the Service or extract data en masse.
  • Use automated systems (scrapers, bots) to interact with the Service without permission.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section. Egregious violations may also be reported to authorities.

5. Service availability and changes

We may add, remove, or change features at any time. We may take the Service offline for maintenance, debugging, or any other reason — sometimes without notice. We may also discontinue the Service entirely; if we do, we will give reasonable advance notice and a way to export your data before shutdown. Your continued use of the Service after a change to this Agreement constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

6. Account security

You are responsible for keeping your password and account credentials safe. Don't share them. We will never email you asking for your password. If you suspect unauthorized access, change your password immediately and contact us.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, the Service operator is not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service — including loss of data, loss of profit, or emotional distress. Where law requires a minimum liability, the operator's total liability is capped at the greater of (a) what you paid us in the previous 12 months, or (b) the local statutory minimum.

8. Privacy

Your privacy is governed by the Privacy Policy. Read it. It covers what we collect, who we share it with, and your rights.

9. Termination

You can stop using the Service or delete your account anytime, from Settings. We can also terminate accounts that breach this agreement. Sections that should survive termination (your content rights, limitation of liability, the arbitration clause if applicable in your jurisdiction) survive.

10. Governing law

This Agreement is governed by the laws of the operator's jurisdiction. Where consumer protection law in your country grants you stronger rights, those apply.
